MdCL’s CHURCH : Live Launch LA

unnamed
the countdown is on! just over two weeks until my new album CHURCH will be released worldwide on CD+digital, with double vinyl coming a month later. it’s been a super fun process getting the album together, and now i can’t wait to unveil it to ears far and wide 🙂

to celebrate the new album, i’m doing TWO nights of live launch shows at our favorite LA spot, THE BLUE WHALEMAY 24 + 25, memorial day weekend. there’s a great cast of guests joining me, and as well as pre-sale discount tickets, you can pre-order the CD now and pick it up and get it signed at the show – before it even gets released.

invite your friends and be ready for two great nights of music – see you there!

The Mayan Theatre: 1038 South Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA., 90015, 213) 746-4674

In 1996, J.ROCC released a mix tape called Syndromes. We didn’t come across it until 2001, but once we did it forever changed our lives. ArtDontSleep has been profoundly influenced by The Funky President of the Beat Junkie collective known as J.ROCC. Fast forward to 2013 and we thought it would be amazing to bring this mix tape experience to life by one of our favorite arranger composers today, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. Miguel is one of the few people on planet Earth that can take a masterpiece like syndromes, a piece that is un-conventional in nature, and elevate it to the next level. Bear witness to one of the freshest concerts happening in all of 2013. Something so unique and original that we actually don’t have a precedent to show you as an example.

J.Rocc was kind enough to edit a portion of the Syndromes mix tape and allow us to pass it on to you for free download. Please spread it around as far and wide as you would like: https://soundcloud.com/artdontsleep/j-rocc-syndromes-remix

NUEVE – Scorpio Edition 10.25

nuevea monthly musical potluck celebrating music lovers and their collections in revolutions of nine.

nueve_square_scorps
This month at Nueve we are celebrating all Scorpius energy.
Some pretty musical/magical scorpios and scorpio aficionados have been invited to share nine of their favorite records on what happens to be the 9th nueve this year! synchronicity and alignment at the top of the season. can’t wait to share/reveal the selectors, see y’all there!

△9 » here is the ‘vinyl potluck’ science: there is a sign up sheet by the turntables when you walk in… bring records & sign up if you wanna play. now, here is the math: 9 records at aprox 2min each is a 18-20min set, allowing 3 folks an hour. Nueve is from 7-11p that’s about a 9-12 person record potluck rotation.

Audible Weekend Highlights*

This weekend is a heavy one in Los Angeles, some sure-shot reoccurring and major heavy acts are settling on the commencement of autumn to grace us with their audible magic… beautiful live performances making one want to split atoms, finding a way to experience/celebrate it all. Music is medicine and we all need a little healing, sometimes… find the time, see you on the dance floor.

As much as we love the sun, the surf and the sand here in Southern California, we cannot wait for autumn. Come October 12th, we get to watch the leaves fall down while artists from around the world come together to play at this year’s Culture Collide at the Echo [1822 W Sunset Blvd  Los Angeles, CA 90026]!

To get you ready for what’s to come, we’ve gathered a bunch of details on the bands that will soon grace our stages, prepping you for when the world converges in LA. Remember: no passport needed!

Alice Russell’s intense vocals and catchy jazz accompaniment are sure to draw an enormous crowd at this year’s Culture Collide. The UK artist sings with raw emotion and fervor that is difficult to match, so we don’t want to miss a moment of it!
